erste Schritte / first steps

Die Neftiqulter machen einen Challenge und zwar zum Thema "tierisch". Der Quilt muss 60 x 60 cm gross sein und zudem sollte er einige Handstiche/-stickereien beinhalten. Hmm für mich alles andere als leicht, da ich ja nicht so tierisch unterwegs bin und auch nicht die Handstickerin bin. Lange habe ich hin und her überlegt, aber nun weiss ich was ich mache.....

The Neftiquilter are doing a challenge to the theme "animal". The quilt has to be 60 x 60 cm (23,5 x 23,5") and then there have also be some handstitching in it. Hmmm sure not an easy task for me because I am sure not animalish and handstitching isn't also not my thing. A long time thought about it and now I now what I will do......

erste Versuche / first trials

 Nachfolgend zeige ich euch erste Versuche, welche ich noch bei meiner Quiltfreundin an die Designwand gepinnt habe. Nun liegen die Stoffe wieder schön in einer Schachtel und warten darauf hervorgeholt zu werden um daran weiter zu arbeiten.

Below I am showing you first trials which I already pinned on the desing wall at my quilting friends home. In the meantime the fabrics are laying in a box and are waiting that I will bring them up again to work further on it.

 

 

Karibik

Diesen Quilt habe ich letzten Frühling am Nähtag der Neftiquilter begonnen (habe hier auf dem Blog hier und hier und hier darüber berichtet) und das Top war schnell genäht, aber wie quilten? Zudem kam, dass er mich nicht mehr so ganz überzeugte. Eine liebe Quiltfreundin bot mir an bei ihr an einer Longarm Quiltmaschine diesen zu quilten. Da ihre Longarm eine kleine, d.h. Höchstbreite 110 cm ist, musste/durfte ich den Quilt in der Mitte auftrennen. Somit lerne ich gleich noch ihre super Quilt-as-you-go Methode. Müde aber glücklich kam ich letzten Sonntagabend mit meinem fix fertigen Quilt "Karibk" nach Hause. 😀

This quilt I started last spring at the sewing day of the Neftiquilter (here and here and here you can read about it). The top was sewn quite easily but how to quilt it? Then I also wasn't really in love with the top. A dear quiltingfriend with a longarm invited me to come to her and quilt it on her machine. Because her longarm was a small one I had to divide the quilt. So I also learned a good method of quilt as you go. Tired but happy I came home on Sunday evening with  my finished quilt "Karibik". 😀
