Katalog Quilt National 2017

Nun kann ich all die Quilts, die es in die Quilt National 2017 geschafft haben in aller Ruhe im Katalog ansehen. Den Katalog konnte ich im Elsass in der Ausstellung der Quilt National persönlich in Empfang nehmen :-)

 

Now I can see all the quilts which are in Quilt National 2017 and can have a close look of them. The catalogue I could pick up personally at the exhibition at the Alsaces :-)

Gestern kam der Katalog von Quilt Visions. Als ich vorne drin las, dass sie 32 von 248 eingesandten Quilts ausgesucht haben, war ich mehr als erfreut, dass meiner dabei war, habe das vorher irgendwie gar nicht mitbekommen ;-)

Yesterday the catalogue from Quilt Visions arrived. When I read in there that they have choose 32 out of 248 quilts, I was really excited that mine has been under These 32 quilts. Before I didn't notice that so many quilts have been entered :-)

Blog-Tour "Quiltessential"

Im September ist die deutsche Übersetzung vom Buch „Quiltessential“ von Erin Burke Harris im Haupt Verlag erschienen.

In September the German Translation of the book "Quiltessential" by Erin Burke Harris was published in the Haupt Verlag.

 

Als ich es das erste mal durchblätterte, fiel mir auf, wie umfassend über die Herstellung eines Quilts geschrieben wird, begonnen mit der Stoffauswahl über die Farbwahl zum Entwurf und nähen der einzelnen Teile bis zum fertigen Quilt. Für Anfänger finde ich es ein geniales Buch.

 

When I first looked through that book I noticed that it has good instructions about how to make a quilt, started with the fabric, Color choice to the design and sewing from parts to the finished quilt. For beginners I think it is a great book.

 

 

 

 

In diesem Buch sucht man aber vergebens nach Anleitungen und Quiltprojekten.

 

In this book you are looking to no avail for quiltingprojects.

 

 

 

Zwischen den einzelnen Kapiteln werden jeweils Portraits von namhaften, zeitgenössischen Quilterinnen gezeigt.

 

Between the chapters you can find Portraits from well known modern quilters.

 

 

 

Das 208 Seiten grosse Buch kommt frisch und modern daher und auch für mich hat es noch das eine oder andere, was ich lernen konnte. Was mir persönlich sehr gut gefiel, ist die Beschreibung der verschiedenen Stoffarten, von vielen kennt man den Namen, aber wie und was genau diesen Stoff ausmacht, kann man hier in diesem Buch lesen.

This 208 page big book is fresh and modern and also for me I could learn something. Personally I liked especially the descriptions of the different fabrics which you know normally by Name but not always what they are exactly.

Quilt National

Nachdem ich dieses Buch vergebens im Elsass am Patchwork Meeting kaufen wollte, musste ich es, falls ich es wollte in Amerika bestellen. Nun ist es gekommen und es hat sich gelohnt. Stundenlang kann ich darin blättern und immer wieder etwas neues entdecken. :-)

 

After trying to buy this book in the Alsace at the European Patchwork meeting, I had to order it in the USA. Now it arrived and it was worth the shipping costs! For hours I can look through this book and always find something interesting to see.

Alle Jahre wieder lasse ich mir meinen Blog in Buchform drucken und beim durchblättern des Buches staune ich immer wieder, was ich in diesem Jahr alles gemacht habe.

 

Every year I am printing my blog in bookform and when looking through I'm always astonished what I have done during one year.

 

Quilten in der dritten Dimension / Exploring Dimension in Quilt Art

Vom Hauptverlag wurde ich angefragt, ob ich das neu übersetzte Buch von C. June Barnes (CJB) "Quilten in der dritten Dimension" bei einem Blog Hop vorstellen möchte. Natürlich war ich gerne dazu bereit, denn ich erinnere mich noch sehr gut als ich C. June Barnes Quilts am Festival of Quilts in Birmingham das erste Mal sah. Ich war hin und weg von diesen Farben und dem Geschrumpften und damals hatte sie noch sehr viele Reissverschlüsse mit hinein verarbeitet. Einfach genial.

 

I've been asked from Haupt publisher to write about the new in German translated book "Exploring Dimension in Quilt Art". Of course I was pleased to do it. I can remember when I first saw June C Barnes quilts for real. It was at the Fetival of Quilts in Birmingham and I was awsome standing in front of them.

 

 

 

In diesem Buch findet man vor allem dreidimensionale Werke, wie der Titel schon sagt. Die Bilder sind sehr schön und die Anleitungen gut verständlich geschrieben. Bis jetzt habe ich noch nicht dreidimensional gearbeitet, aber so das eine oder andere Stück würde mich schon reizen und ich werde bestimmt eine Körbchenart einmal nacharbeiten und werde dann auch auf diesem Blog über meine Versuche berichten.

 

In this book you'll find a lot of three dimensional work as the titel already tells. The pictures are very good and the instructions clearly. So far I haven't worked three dimensional but after looking through this book I know that the one or other piece I'll work and sure I'll let you know about my trials on this blog.

Blog Buch / blog book

 Anfang Woche kam wieder mein Blog Buch. Auch im Zeitalter der modernen Technologie, halte ich doch gerne ein Buch in den Händen. Darum lasse ich jedes Jahr meinen Blog in Buchform drucken und zwar bei Shared book. Einen weiteren Vorteil hat es auch, so können meine Eltern und andere Interessierte, die kein Internet haben an meinen "Aktivitäten" vom vergangenen Jahr teilhaben.

This week my blog book arrived. Also in the aera of modern technology I love to hold a book in my hands. That's why I let print my blog in bookform each year at Shared Book. An other good thing is that so my parents and other interested people who don't have internet access can see what I've done last year.

daily Beauty

Von Cécile Trentini (klick) wurde ich angefragt, ob ich bereit wäre an der Blog Tour zu ihrem Buch “daily Beauty” erschienen im C&T Publishing Verlag mit zu machen. Ich habe noch nie so etwas gemacht, war aber sofort bereit daran teilzunehmen.  Nun möchte ich euch das Buch ganz kurz vorstellen.

Im Vorwort schreibt Cécile, dass sie nur einer Regel folgte und das war: alles ist möglich. Nach dem ersten durchblättern des Buches, wollte ich mich gleich an die Maschine setzen und ausprobieren. Für mich sind die Bilder sehr inspirierend. Das Buch ist in Englisch, aber ich denke dank der guten Bilder und Schritt für Schritt Anleitung ist es möglich mit diesem Buch, auch wenn man kein Englisch kann,  seine eigenen Experimente durchzuführen.  Auf die Idee mit Kosmetik Wattepads einen ganzen Quilt mit 365 Blocks zu nähen, muss man auch zuerst kommen. Mich hat das ganze Buch sehr fasziniert, vor allem was für Techniken, Stiche, Materialien usw. man auf diesen Watterondellen anwenden kann. Im zweiten Teil des Buches werden dann die einzelnen Blocks gezeigt.

Cécile is writing that she joined only one rule and this was: everything is possible. After the first looking through the book, I just wanted to sit at my sewing machine and get started to try different things out. For me the pictures are very inspiring. The book is written in English. The idea to sew with round cotton pads used in beauty care must have first be born. With the whole book I am quite fascinated what technics, stiches, materials etc. have been used on these cotton pads. In the second part of the book there you can see the blogs in detail.

Mein Blog-Buch ist eingetroffen. Jedes Jahr lasse ich mir sämtliche Blogeinträge und Kommentare in einem Buch drucken. So können auch meine Eltern und meine Schwiegermutter an meinem Tun teilhaben, auch wenn sie keinen Computer haben und für mich ist es eine schöne Erinnerung und ich staune immer wieder, was man in einem Jahr alles so gemacht hat.

My blog book arrived. Each year I let print all my blogentries and comments. So my parents and my mother-in-law can see what I've done throughout the year even they don't own a computer. And for me it is a nice rememberance and I always are surprised what I've done in that year.

Auf Wunsch von einigen Mitgliedern bei uns in der Gruppe, machte ich dieses Buch bei blurb. Inzwischen musste ich es schon öfters nachbestellen und zwar nicht nur für unsere Mitglieder. Falls sich jemand dafür interessiert, hier bei Blurb kann man es selber bestellen. Es hat 160 Seiten mit ca. 130 Quilts.

On request of some members of our group I made this book. In the meantime I had to reorder it often and not only for members of our quilting group. If someone is also interested in this booklet, here at blurb you can order it. About 160 quilts are shown on 160 pages.

Dieses Buch "create your own free-form quilts" von Rayna Gillman habe ich in den letzten Tagen erhalten und es gefällt mir sehr gut, obwohl ich vieles schon so mache, wie darin beschrieben. Vielleicht gefällt mir das Buch gerade darum so gut, weil man einfach einmal beginnt, ohne Plan, drauflos zu nähen und dann der Quilt gestaltet wird. Ehrlich gesagt sind mir viele der gezeigten Quilts sehr bunt und unruhig, aber das ist natürlich Ansichtsache. Es hat auch ein paar wunderschöne Quilts darin, u.a. einer von Frauke (Quilthexle), hier ihr Blog.

This book "create your own free-form quilts" from Rayna Gillman I received in the last few days and I like it very much. Some of the techniques they are writing about in this book I am already doing, but maybe this could be the point why I like this book, to start without plan, just sew and then create the quilt. To be honest some of the quilts are very wild and colorful but that depends on your own view of the things. There it also has some wonderful quilts, e.g. one from Frauke (Quilthexle), hier ihr Blog.

Auch im 2012 geht meine Liebe zu den Büchern weiter. Textile Abenteuer von Mirjam Pet-Jacobs lag in meinem Briefkasten. Dieses Buch ist in deutsch, englisch und französisch geschrieben. Freue mich auf das Lesen und ev. einige Ideen auszuprobieren.

Also in 2012 my love for books will not end. In my mailbox I had the book Textile Adventure from Mirjam Pet-Jacobs. It is written in English, German and French and I'm looking forward reading it and maybe try out some of the ideas.

Endlich habe ich den Quilt Art Engagement Calendar fürs 2012 erhalten. Blöcke, die ich mit meiner Freundin Linda aus Des Moines, Iowa, in einem Challenge getauscht habe, sind, verarbeitet in einem super schönen Quilt, auch in diesem Kalender zu sehen.

Finally the Quilt Art Engagement Calender 2012 arrived. Blocks which I have made in a challenge with my friend Linda from Des Moines, Iowa, are sewn into a wonderful, refreshing quilt, can also be seen in this calendar.

Dieses Buch lag heute bei mir im Briefkasten. Kurz habe ich es schon durchgeblättert und es gefällt mir sehr gut. Was mich freut ist, dass 2 Schweizerinnen mit ihren Quilts darin vertreten sind. Es sind dies Maryline Collioud-Robert und Beatrice Lanter. Nun freue ich mich darauf darin zu lesen und all die Quilts genauer zu betrachten.

This book was in my mailbox this morning. I have already sneaked through it and I like what I saw. I'm very glad that 2 Swiss Quilters are present with their quilts in this book. They are Maryline Collioud-Robert and Beatrice Lanter. Now I'm looking forward reading in it and look more careful at all these beautiful quilts.

Ein weiteres "Spinnbuch", wo ich nicht wiederstehen konnte. Einfach faszinierend, mit was man alles spinnen und was man alles einzwirnen kann! Nun müsste nur noch irgendwo etwas Zeit zu kaufen sein. Ratschläge willkommen!

Another spinningbook where I couldn't resist. Just fascinating with what you can spinn and what you all can twist in. Now I only have to buy somewhere some time. Do you have any suggestions?

Ausstellungskatalog / exhibition catalogue

Mein Quilt "wild circles" durfte ich ja nach Paducah an die AQS Ausstellung senden. Er ist unten links abgebildet und wer ihn in Natura sehen möchte, hat übers kommende Wochenende die Möglichkeit dies an der Dorfet zu tun.

My quilt "wild circles" was exhibited at the annual AQS show in Paducah. You can see it in the left hand corner. If you want to see it in real you have the possibility to see it at the Dorfet this weekend.
